Being a toddler parent doesn’t mean you have to spend money every time you leave the house. Knoxville has so many free places where little ones can run, explore, learn, and burn off energy. Whether you’re looking for an easy morning outing or trying to fill your week on a budget, here are my favorite free toddler activities around Knoxville.

1. Visit a Knox County Library Storytime

This is one of my girls favorites! Both my girls enjoy going to storytime at the library. The Knox County Public Library system offers Baby Bookworms, Toddler Storytime, Preschool Storytime, music classes, crafts, and seasonal events throughout the week at different branches. They also have summer reading challenges! It’s a wonderful way for toddlers to enjoy books, sing songs, and meet other children while helping develop early literacy skills. 2. Walk a Storybook Trail

If your toddler loves books and being outside, Knoxville’s Storybook Trails are a must. These walking trails feature pages from a children’s book displayed along the path so your child can read the story while exploring nature. Some of the stories rotate throughout the year, making each visit feel new and exciting!

• Ijams Nature Center
• Angora Frog Farm & Dog Park
• Powell Library walking trail

The trails are stroller-friendly and perfect for toddlers with short attention spans because every few steps there’s another page to discover.

3. Explore Knoxville’s Best Playgrounds

Some toddler favorites include:

• Lakeshore Park (but you have to check out the hidden playground called Huie Woodland Playground)
• Sequoyah Park
• Aspire Park (only in the cooler months because the playground gets super HOT in the summer months)

Pack snacks, sunscreen, and let your little one climb, slide, and explore. My girls and I love to pack a picnic and eat lunch before we play, it’s the perfect way to change up your daily routine!

4. Visit UT Gardens

UT Gardens Knoxville is completely free and has beautiful walking paths, flowers, and a children’s garden where toddlers can safely explore. It’s especially gorgeous in the spring and fall. The wide sidewalks also make it an easy stroller walk. It’s a great way to let the littles run around and explore while you get some fresh air.
