If you’ve ever wondered whether a mini session or a full session is the best fit for your family, you’re definitely not alone. Both options offer beautiful images and a great experience but they serve different purposes. Here’s a breakdown to help you make the best choice for your next photo session.

All photographers vary on these differences, so be sure to ask how many images you’ll receive and how much time is offered with each session!
The Time Difference
Mini Session:
Typically 15–20 minutes. Short, sweet, and perfect for families who want a quick update.
Full Session:
Up to 1 hour. This gives us plenty of time to explore, settle in, and create a relaxed atmosphere—especially helpful if you have little ones who need a few minutes to warm up.
The Number of Images
Mini Session:
Around 10 edited images.
Full Session:
Usually 30–40 edited images, offering a much larger variety of poses, moments, and candid interactions.

Trying Out a New Photographer
If you haven’t worked with a photographer before, a mini session can be a great low-commitment way to meet them. You get a feel for their personality, shooting style, and overall vibe.
But it’s important to keep expectations in mind, minis move fast. There’s not much time for kids to warm up, for shy little ones to open up, or for us to fully connect. They’re meant to be simple, efficient, and to-the-point.
The Benefits of a Full Session
A full session allows us to slow down and truly get to know each other. Your kids can settle in, explore the environment, and get comfortable with me behind the camera. I personally love this time because it gives me the chance to understand your family’s energy, personalities, and sweet little dynamics.
My goal is to become your go-to photographer- the one you know, trust, and feel completely at ease with. Building that relationship starts the moment we meet, and full sessions give us the best opportunity for that connection to grow.
Investment Considerations
Full sessions are a larger investment, which is why it’s so important to look through a photographer’s website, portfolio, and editing style before booking. Make sure you truly love their work because you’re investing in more time, more images, and a deeper experience.
Mini sessions are more budget-friendly and a great way to dip your toes in, but full sessions offer the fullest, most personal experience.

So… Which Should You Choose?
Both are amazing options! It just depends on your goals:
Want quick, updated photos without a big time commitment- a mini session is the way to go!
Want a relaxed experience, more images, and time for genuine connection- a full session is what you are looking for!
Either way, I’m here to make your experience fun, easy, and memorable.
